Frosty Bottom Was Frosty!!!!!!
So, the 2nd annual Frosty Bottom Race was Saturday Jan. 5th. It was cold and the trail was rock solid. So, it was a good learning experience. Pace was fast and really cold at first. The temperature was around -0 to 5 degrees at start. We were averaging 15 MPH, so -0 degrees at 15 MPH that makes it really freaking cold. Greg, Tom, Joe, and myself hit the turn around in at about 1:30. That's 1 hour off of last years pace. That's when Tom and I found out that both of our Camelbak blatter hoses were frozen. Well, I got back to Goose Lake and Joe tried to hand me a bottle, but the water was also frozen. Tom made a good push with no water. But was about 3mins to short. Greg made a good attack and held Tom off at the end. Tom and I felt just about the same at the end. We both rode more than half the race with no water. It really put the hurt on both of us. It really messes with your mind when you can hear your water moving around on your back, but you can't get to it. So, at the end of this thing, I bonked and froze my eyes. But, like I said before, it was a good learning experience.
