Can you say Wind Tunnel Testing!

Thats right. We got a call today from Cervelo inviting us to a 3 day camp in San Diego. We will be riding all Saturday. Sunday we will be riding in the morning and heading to the wind tunnel to do testing on there bike line in the afternoon. Monday more riding. The best part its all paid for by Cervelo. Everything, food, hotel, airfair. I'm super excited about the wind tunnel. The only thing is that its over the Susitnia 100. So that means no Race for me. I've done that race for 6 years in a row. This trip will be well worth it. I'm ready for road season to kick off.
We all signed up for the La Veulta De Bisbee. Bill, Matt, and myself are a go. It will be a great trip also. Everything is booked and ready to go.
Cada's swimming a like a fish now. 6 swim lessons and she going under the water and holding her breath with goggles. Its amazing. Ambers doing great when she gets good sleep at night. 13 weeks into the baby race.

Sweet Shot!!

Just got this photo emailed to me tonight. Pretty sweet. Its from the T.O.A Clarks Road HC 2007. I was workin it.

Snow + Warm Temps = Pushing

So its warmed up a and things are melting. It sucks for biking right now. Tonight the winds are supposed to be blowing up to 85mph. Its rippin outside right know. Well the ride today was a slow pushing until a snow machine finally came through and packed down the snow. So we rode back to the turn around and rode out the finishing inbound trail. I sure hope the trail sets up. It will be hard as a rock. Maybe got 4 hrs of riding/pushing.

Just got Matt Jordan and Bill to go to the Tour de Bisbee for a stage race. Just have to get Tom in place to go and it will be on. It will be a good time.

Lots going on.

Well, got a good trainer ride into today with Matt Jordan. I think Matt and I are going to go to La Vuelta De Bisbee. That will be a blast if it works out and it sounds like it will. Its a 3 day road race with 4 races. (2 Road Races and 2 Time Trials) Its really cool we have wives that allow us to go out and play. Heading out to the Susitna course on Monday with Bill and a few others to check out the new start to the course. Should be a good long ride.

Ambers doing a little better. She's now about 12 weeks pregnant. She's still getting a little sick but not as bad as a few weeks ago. She thinks were going to have a boy because this one is so different than Cada. She loves to eat and sleep. Cada is super excited about the new baby. She really wants a baby brother. Were all excited about the Hawaii trip. It will be so nice to get away in the sun and ride. Cada keeps saying she wants to go to the beach. Its really cute.

I'll get some good photos of the course on Monday and give a trail report.

Cold and Slow!

Went out to Hillside today for a few hours of pedaling around in the cold temps. It was cold and slow. I learned at -15 my camera, phone and computer all died in about a 1Hr into the ride. I stayed pretty comfortable with what I had on. I just got a new Arc'Teryx jacket with pit zips and it worked like a charm. Goggles make a huge difference in cold weather. I've had some eye issues in the past with cold weather. Its pretty painful. The trails are in good shape. Beside the trails that the horses have been running on. I'm not even going to start on this topic. Anyways, the trails are really slow. Its like riding on velco. Trying to figure out why that is. Rubber, Cold Tempature, Extra Clothes, Snow, all the above. Tommorrows Ambers Birthday. (Big 30) I'm not sure when we will celebrate it. Maybe this weekend. Tomorrow will be a trainer day at the shop.

Trainer and cold

So, got to the shop today around 7:30. Got about 2Hrs in on the trainer. It was a busy day at the shop. People are buying trainers and bikes. Thats a good thing. Legs were alittle tired from yesterday. I'm not sure about Sunday and Monday. But, I will probably put in a big day in on Monday. Its going to be cold the next couple of days. Mid week it will be up in the 20's again. Going to try to finish up the garage tommorrow. Trying to organize tools and trainer setup. Cada loves to go in the garage and ride her new bicycle around. Thats what the plan will be in the afternoon. Till next time. I'm out.

Lots of Soft Snow!

Went out today for 2:30Hrs of pedaling around in lots of fresh snow. The Hillside is pretty good riding if you want to know what the Susitnia 100 could be like. This is the first real snow fall we have had this year. Its a big change from what we had last weekend. So, I got the bike loaded with gear and some fatty wheels on it. Its good to pedal it around for a month or so loaded down (Heavy). I'm try out some 84mm rims out on my bike. There pretty sweet. They fell really stable in soft punchy snow. But they are heavy to roll over. Train heavy, race light. I hope I won't need them. It could be a long race if the conditions are like they are right now. Riding the trainer in the morning at CRC.

Frosty Bottom Was Frosty!!!!!!

So, the 2nd annual Frosty Bottom Race was Saturday Jan. 5th. It was cold and the trail was rock solid. So, it was a good learning experience. Pace was fast and really cold at first. The temperature was around -0 to 5 degrees at start. We were averaging 15 MPH, so -0 degrees at 15 MPH that makes it really freaking cold. Greg, Tom, Joe, and myself hit the turn around in at about 1:30. That's 1 hour off of last years pace. That's when Tom and I found out that both of our Camelbak blatter hoses were frozen. Well, I got back to Goose Lake and Joe tried to hand me a bottle, but the water was also frozen. Tom made a good push with no water. But was about 3mins to short. Greg made a good attack and held Tom off at the end. Tom and I felt just about the same at the end. We both rode more than half the race with no water. It really put the hurt on both of us. It really messes with your mind when you can hear your water moving around on your back, but you can't get to it. So, at the end of this thing, I bonked and froze my eyes. But, like I said before, it was a good learning experience.

Good 2 Days!!!

So Bill, Tom, Sheryl, and myself went out and got a good 4+ hour ride in. Hillside to Earthquake Park and back. It was almost the Frosty Bottom course. The trail is cherry right now. But a lot could change. Later that evening my family and the Peichel family hooked up for dinner and Fireworks Downtown. The kids had a great time watching the Fireworks and playing in the snow together. Happy New Year!!!!!

Today (Sunday), got a good a 2+ hour ride in with Todd. It was supposed to be recovery ride. Just a few more days till the Frosty Bottom. Amber went for a Hike up the backside of Flattop with the girls this morning. So that means Cada and I had the morning together to play. It was a good day.
